Ug, we HATED it! We waited a full HOUR for our food (how long do paninis take? 5 min on a grill press?), during a slow lunch time when the restaurant was hardly half full. Our paninis were not good, way too salty; even the water tasted bad to our entire table of 4 (we sent it back and the next batch was somehow good) the chips were literally charred and tasted burnt. One chip made it without being burnt and it was soggy. I never ever send food back and I just had to. This is my second trip to this chain and both have been disappointments. We won't be returning.

I would say my first trip to Mirko was extremely disappointing. May be just what I ordered which was the Lasagna lunch special. It had a funky taste to it. I didn't even eat half of it. My wife took the leftover to work the next day, I got a phone call from her asking where I had gotten it because she took a couple of bites of it then threw it away.

We love Mirko. We take our family there when they come in from out of town. The food is always fresh. I brought my employees here for our Christmas party this past December. And they all loved it. The italian nachos are amazing. Everyone needs to try them.

Fresh pasta in Mt Juliet? Okay... I'll start with 5 stars just for that and work my way down from there. I initially thought Mirko was a fast casual place set up like Chipotle. Order at the counter and then wait for your food to be brought to you. I was wrong. We were pleasantly greeted for lunch today and quickly sat. I was bummed about sit down service cause I was looking forward to an inexpensive lunch but when the waiter asked if I'd been there before he obliged me with "the pasta tray"... Cool. Much to my surprise the pasta is made in house and from scratch! Woohoo! After a quick scan of the menu I had no idea what to order so I went with a classic as a Gauge. Fettuccine Alfredo pasta with grilled chicken. My companion ordered a vegetarian option the pasta Primavera. Both dishes were served quickly and served hot. As I step up on my culinary soap box (and after reading the previous reviews) let me just say that there is no such thing as" al dente" for fresh pasta. Fresh pasta is pretty easy to cook, unfortunately Mirko didn't get it right having overcooked the pasta. I hope that the kitchen didn't bow to pressure from the crowd because this was the single biggest disappointment.both pasta dishes were a little bit mushy but the sauces and overall flavors were nicely done. The pasta Alfredo was done with fresh dairy which makes a huge difference from what you get up the street at the Olive Garden - so don't even make the comparison. The bread rolls were nice and hot and I enjoy the fluffy soft texture with slightly browned bottom (that's what she said). I would have to agree that the white bean dip was a little odd albeit very tasty. The dip just seemed a little bit heavy for bread, I saw that more as an appetizer but it was flavorful with fresh herbs and the beans were cooked fresh. On my second visit I thought I'd get a little bold so I ordered the crab in sun-dried tomato sauce while my companion ordered an eggplant with red sauce combination. All the flavors of my crab pasta were good although I thought that the sun-dried tomato sauce was overwhelming for the delicate flavor of the crab and I ended up picking out all of the sun-dried tomatoes. I tasted the veggie dish which I thought was a great combination of vegetables with the sauce but once again both pastas were slightly off. This time I thought pasta was just a little bit under but not bad enough that I didn't finish everything. After the first visit we were encouraged to try the tiramisu - one of the staff commented that the tiramisu was better than it was in Italy, this had me intrigued. While I do admit that the tiramisu was pretty damn tasty I wouldn't say it was the best that I've ever had but I've had some pretty good tiramisu in my life. I would certainly say that the tiramisu here was worth ordering. The service on both visits was adequate. I wouldn't say that the service level is anything above and beyond what you can find in Nashville and I have to say that it's difficult for me to comment considering that I've not had any "big city" service levels since I've been in Nashville. In order for Mirko to continue to succeed management will need to be in constant training mode for months if not years to overcome the service issues. Little things to note that normally bother me are not serving the female first, not asking to refill water when it's empty but just doing it, clearing all used dirty plates before dessert, and checking back within a couple of minutes after the food served. I also think that the table should be cleared of "crumbs"periodically especially after the meal and while I'm at it don't ask me if I ordered the crab pasta when you deliver it if there are only two people at the table - that is a no-brainer. I'll stop there. Overall what you need to know is that Mirko is in an odd location in the strip mall in the middle of Mt Juliet. Pastas are made from scratch and the flavor combinations are pretty good and while the servers are genuinely eager to assist they do tend to fall short on the details (and the devil is in the details). For the price I'm pretty impressed with what Mirko is doing and I encourage you to try them out especially if you've never had from-scratch Italian cooking as they do a pretty darn good job at it. The candles on the table are a nice touch as are the fresh herbs in the pot growing just outside the front door. Mirko is only scratching the surface and has a little ways to go before perfection but until then it's pretty easy to grab a seat and have a good meal on any night of the week. The strength of Mirko lies in the fact that they are making their pastas and sauces from scratch and have managed to price them very very reasonably - I like that.

Cost is expensive considering how average the food is ($75 for 3 ppl). Service was terrible. They were out of spaghetti (how does that happen at an Italian restaurant?! It was only 12:30pm!)... Sticking with olive garden from now on.

just fresh and different. the bread bean dip was just not good together, but the butternut squash ravioli and the apple sausage ravioli were great especially with the creme sauces. the butternut squash was sweet and just plain good and the apple sausage was mostly good sausage with a hint of apple. the bread was better with butter and they brought some out. overall unique with fresh housemade pastas. definately would go again

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
